I love being a dentist. I look forward to each day, knowing I’m going to spend time with great patients and a wonderful staff. It is my goal to make everyone as comfortable as possible and help patients achieve beautiful, healthy smiles. It is great to be in the SMILE business!
Education and Experience
It has been my pleasure to have practiced at Fairview Dental since 1988. I graduated from Wabash College in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts in biology. I went on to earn my Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Indiana University in 1988. I am certified in Invisalign®, Lumineers®, CEREC® same-day crowns, and Wave One® rotary endodontics.
I am a member of the American Dental Association, Illinois Dental Society, Fox River Valley Dental Society, Chicago Dental Society, and Aurora Dental Society. I served as president of the Aurora Dental Society from 1993 to 1994, and president of the Fox River Dental Society from 2001 to 2002. I also work with Two Rivers Head Start to provide dental care for their clients.
In the Community
I am proud to call Aurora my home. I’m excited to help make Aurora a great place to live. I volunteer my time with Kiwanis, Boy Scouts, the Compassion Foundation, Knights of Columbus, and my church. In 2009, I was co-chairman of the capital campaign for St. Katharine Drexel parish to build a new church and parish center. Again in 2018, I was co-chairman to raise capital to build a new rectory at St. Katharine Drexel. I also participate in Donated Dental Service and the Dentist with a Heart programs that provide free dental care to those in need. Our office donates our time at Mission Possible, a free dental clinic in downtown Aurora.
Throughout my career, I’ve been honored several times for my work with the community:
- Dr. Luis Amador Medallion for community service by Kiwanis in 2018
- 4th Degree Knights of Columbus 2017
- Kiwanian of the Year 2017
- Hidden Hero of Kane County by the Kane County Health Department for co-founding the Dentist with a Heart program with Dr. Ahasic, 2008
- Fr. Joe Muller award from the Compassion Foundation for service to the Aurora community, 2006
- Hixson Award for outstanding community service by Kiwanis, 2006
- Community Participation Silver Star award by Two Rivers Head Start Agency for providing dental care for the needy in Kane County, 2003
Outside the Office
I reside in Sugar Grove with my wife Lisa. Our three grown children Megan, Mary, and Sam complete our family. My interests outside of dentistry include enjoying time with my family, long bike rides, and cheering for the Chicago Cubs. As an Eagle Scout, I help younger scouts in Troop 53 achieve the rank of Eagle.
I am also a top age-group triathlete: ten-time marathoner, including Boston in 2010, and a three-time Ironman finisher in 2005, 2009, and 2012. I enjoy getting muddy off road with my Jeep and I make a wicked chicken pepperoni.
